Earlier in the school year, Cypress
Lake Middle School students visit-
ed the JN “Ding” Darling National
Wildlife Refuge to photograph the wild-
life and native plants.
Now, the winners have been
announced in the annual Student Nature
Photography Contest sponsored by
Edison National Bank in cooperation
with the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society.
Edison National Bank provides overall
financial support for this annual event,
including medals and cash prizes for the
winners. They are:
1st place: Ryan Welsh
2nd place: Esmeralda Flores
3rd place: Katie Newman
The awards ceremony took place
on Tuesday, December 8 at the school.
Cypress Lake 8th grade teacher Joy
Williams emceed the proceedings with
highlights about the students’ photogra-
phy and their time at the refuge. Principal
Kelly Maniscalco joined in the ceremony.
Also in attendance were Refuge Ranger
Becky Larkin and volunteers Ken and
Ginny Kopperl who assisted the students
during their photography field trip to the
At the awards ceremony, Edison

Roepstorff and Vice President Susan
Nasworthy presented award medals to
the top three student photographers
judged in the contest. The sponsoring
bankers also gave the winners $100,
$75 and $50 cashier’s checks for the top
three selected photographs.
“It is truly an honor for Edison
National Bank to sponsor this event,”
said Roepstorff. “Ms. Williams did a ter-
rific job supervising the contest. These
middle school photographers have cap-
tured some very beautiful images. I hope
everyone will come see their work in our
lobby display at the Cleveland Avenue
Every student participating in the con-
test will receive a $1 U.S. Mint gold coin
from Edison National Bank when they
visit the lobby photo display.
The public is also invited to see the
display starting the week of January
4 during banking hours at 13000 S.
Cleveland Avenue, Fort Myers.

Concert Series Attracts New
Audiences At Art Center
The last concert in the Kate Davis Series, The Ladybugs, will perform classical
standards with a fresh, young twist for the 21st century at the Sidney & Berne
Davis Art Center. SBDAC is located in the historic downtown River District at
2301 First Street in Fort Myers.
The Ladybugs are a traditional jazz vocal group known for their intricate harmonies
and experimental arrangements. Lead by Martina DaSilva, all members of the band
sing while playing ukulele, guitar, trombone, bass and drums.
The Ladybugs’ repertoire includes favorites from the 1920s, ‘30s, and ‘40s, infused
with old-school swing, country and blues. The band has received high praise for recent
performances at Jazz At Lincoln Center’s Generations in Jazz Festival, the NY Hot
Jazz Festival and the NYC Winter Jazzfest. With a sound that attracts all audiences,
The Ladybugs effortlessly keep listeners smiling and moving.
The Ladybugs will perform January 15, 2016. Cocktails are served at 7 p.m . and
the per formance begins at 8 p.m . Tickets are $25 in advance, or $30 at the door.
